Marriage

Marriage should not be treated as a contract entered by pleasure from both partners that can be easily broken if it “doesn’t work out” without even regarding the children. Children need families with a mother and a father with a strong conviction to the gospel~ Dallin H. Oaks, Protect the Children, Conference October 2012

Early in our marriage, often I would open my scriptures to give a message in a meeting, and I would find an affectionate, supportive note Jeanene had slipped into the pages. Sometimes they were so tender that I could hardly talk. Those precious notes from a loving wife were and
continue to be a priceless treasure of comfort and inspiration. “The Eternal Blessings of Marriage," Elder Scott April 2011

"The secret of a happy marriage is to serve God and each other. The goal of marriage is unity and oneness, as well as self-development. Paradoxically, the more we serve one another, the greater is our spiritual and emotional growth."--Ezra Taft Benson, "Fundamentals of Enduring Family Relationships," Ensign, Nov. 1982, 59

Happiness does not consist of a glut of luxury, the world’s idea of a “good time” Nor must we search for it in faraway places with strange sounding names. Happiness is found at home. ~ Thomas S. Monson, Hallmarks of a Happy Home, Ensign October 2001

Allow marriage and family to be a great source of happiness to you by being completely faithful to your spouse, speaking uplifting to them, expressing to them your feelings of love, and spending great time with your children.~ Elder Richard G. Scott, The Eternal Blessing of Marriage, Conference April 2011

Differences of opinion occur between husband and wife. But one’s objective in marriage is never to win an argument, but to build an eternal relationship of love. —Russell M. Nelson, Worldwide Leadership Training, January 2012

Marriage is the foundry for social order, the fountain of virtue, and the foundation for eternal exaltation. Marriage has been divinely designated as an eternal and everlasting covenant. Marriage is sanctified when it is cherished and honored in holiness. That union is not merely between husband and wife; it embraces a partnership with God.”Russell M. Nelson“Nurturing Marriage,” Ensign, May 2006, 36

Marriage is like climbing a mountain. You tie yourself to a companion, and you start up the mountain of life. As a child comes along, you tie him to Mom and Dad and continue your journey. The ropes will hold all of the mountain climbers together. But there are many elements—the wind and the rain and the snow and the ice—all the elements of the world will tear at you to pull you off that eternal mountain. How do you reach the summit? -Elder Robert D. Hales " Preparing  for a Heavenly Marriage" Feb 2006

“I have long felt that happiness in marriage is not so much a matter of romance as it is an anxious concern for the comfort and well-being of one’s companion,” - Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley "Teachings of Gordon B. Hinckley (1997), 325.

Do you tell your wife often how very much you love her? It will bring her great happiness. I’ve heard men tell me when I say that, “Oh, she knows.” You need to tell her. A woman grows and is greatly blessed by that reassurance. Express gratitude for what your spouse does for you. Express that love and gratitude often. That will make life far richer and more pleasant and purposeful. Don’t withhold those natural expressions of love. And it works a lot better if you are holding her close while you tell her.—Elder Richard G. Scott,“The Eternal Blessings of Marriage,” Ensign, May 2011, 95

From this topic I learned that marriage is something really especial that God gave to us together with taking care of a family. one of the goals of marriage is not only to have a eternal family, but also to have unity to serve one another. marriage is sacred and in these latters days is being attack with different ideas that dont go with God's commanmendts. I am glad that this past week i was able to get marry in the temple for eternity i know i would recieve a lot of blessings for follow this commandments, im going to apply each of these principals to my life and with my family in the future.

Agency

  • "I know that God loves us. He allows us to exercise our moral agency even when we misuse it. He permits us to make our own decisions. Christ cannot help us if we do not trust Him; He cannot teach us if we do not serve Him. He will not force us to do what's right, but He will show us the way only when we decide to serve Him. Certainly, for us to serve in His kingdom, Christ requires that we experience a change of thought and attitude."--Thomas S. Monson, "Looking Back and Moving Forward", Ensign, May 2008, 87–90
  • "Impressions of the Spirit can come in response to urgent prayer or unsolicited when needed. Sometimes the Lord reveals truth to you when you are not actively seeking it, such as when you are in danger and do not know it. However, the Lord will not force you to learn. You must exercise your agency to authorize the Spirit to teach you. As you make this a practice in your life, you will be more perceptive to the feelings that come with spiritual guidance. Then, when that guidance comes, sometimes when you least expect it, you will recognize it more easily." --Richard G. Scott, "To Acquire Spiritual Guidance", Ensign, Nov 2009, 6–9
  • "We voluntarily came from the presence of God the Father to this mortal probation with agency, knowing we would have "opposition in all things" (2 Nephi 2:11). Our objective is to take upon us the whole armor of God and withstand "the fiery darts of the wicked" with the shield of faith and the sword of the Spirit, to endure to the end, and to be worthy to stand and live in the presence of God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, for all eternity-to achieve what is called eternal life." --Elder Robert D. Hales, "Blessings of the Temple", Ensign Oct 2009, 46–49
  • "Tests and trials are given to all of us. These mortal challenges allow us and our Heavenly Father to see whether we will exercise our agency to follow His Son. He already knows, and we have the opportunity to learn, that no matter how difficult our circumstances, “all these things shall be for our experience, and our good." --Robert D Hales, "Waiting upon the Lord: Thy Will Be Done", October 2011 General Conference
  • "As we look into the future, we are going to need to be stronger and more responsible for our choices in a world where people "call evil good, and good evil." We do not choose wisely if we use our agency in opposition to God's will or to priesthood counsel. Tomorrow's blessings and opportunities depend on the choices we make today." --James E. Faust, "Choices", Liahona, May 2004, 51–54
  • "The voice of the Spirit speaks gently, prompting you what to do or what to say, or it may caution or warn you. Ignore or disobey these promptings, and the Spirit will leave you. It is your choice--your agency." --President Boyd K. Packer; Ensign, November 1994, page 60.
  • "To fully understand this gift of agency and its inestimable worth, it is imperative that we understand that God's chief way of acting is by persuasion and patience and long-suffering, not by coercion and stark confrontation. He acts by gentle solicitation and by sweet enticement. He always acts with unfailing respect for the freedom and independence that we possess. He wants to help us and pleads for the chance to assist us, but he will not do so in violation of our agency. He loves us too much to do that, and doing so would run counter to his divine character." --Howard W. Hunter, "The Golden Thread of Choice", Ensign, Nov. 1989, 17
Certainly, for us to serve in His kingdom, Christ requires that we experience a change of thought and attitude." --Thomas S. Monson, "Looking Back and Moving Forward", Ensign, May 2008, 87–90
  • “Agency allows us to be tested and tried to see whether or not we will endure to the end and return to our Heavenly Father with honor. … Agency permits us to make faithful, obedient choices that strengthen us so that we can lift and strengthen others.”Robert D. Hales“To Act for Ourselves: The Gift and Blessings of Agency,” Ensign, May 2006, 7–8.
  • “Because the eternal principle of agency gives us the freedom to choose and think for ourselves, we should become increasingly able to solve problems. We may make the occasional mistake, but as long as we are following gospel principles and guidelines, we can learn from those mistakes and become more understanding of others and more effective in serving them.”-M. Russell Ballard, “Be Wise,” Liahona, Nov. 2006
My favorite quote from this topic was “Agency allows us to be tested and tried to see whether or not we will endure to the end and return to our Heavenly Father with honor. … Agency permits us to make faithful, obedient choices that strengthen us so that we can lift and strengthen others.” because i know that this tell the true agency help us strength our faith and testimony and keep going and come back to him.

Pornography

Immoral thoughts, words, and deeds always are immoral, even in cyberspace… We are all accountable to God, and ultimately we will be judged of Him according to our deeds and the desires of our hearts. ~ David A. Bednar, Things as They Really Are, CES Fireside, May 3, 2009 BYU-Idaho.

Like thieves in the night, unwelcome thought can and do seek entrance to our minds. But we don’t have to throw open the door, serve them tea and crumpets, and tell them where the silverware is kept! Throw the rascals out! Replace lewd thoughts with hopeful messages an joyful memories; picture the faces of those who love you and would be shattered if you let them down. ~ Jeffery R. Holland, Place No More for the Enemy of My Soul, Conference April 2009

Pornography impairs one’s ability to enjoy a normal emotional, romantic, and spiritual relationship with a person of the opposite sex. It erodes the moral barriers that stand against inappropriate, abnormal, or illegal behavior. As conscience is desensitized, patrons of pornography are led to act out what they have witnessed, regardless of its effects on their life and the lives of others. ~ Dallin H. Oaks, Pornography. Ensign, May 2005

Stay completely away from pornography. Do not allow yourself to view it, ever. It has been proven to be an addiction which is more than difficult to overcome.~ Thomas S. Monson, Priesthood Power, Conference April 2011

Be Cautious. These same technologies can allow evil influences to cross the threshold of your homes. These dangerous traps are only a mouse click away. Pornography, violence, intolerance, and ungodliness destroy families, marriages, and individual lives. These dangers are distributed through many media, including magazines, books, television, movies, and music, as well as the internet. Dieter F. Utchdorf, A Matter of a Few Degrees, April 2008

We cannot afford husbands and fathers who fail to provide spiritual leadership in the home. We cannot afford to have those who exercise the Holy Priesthood, after the Order of the Son of God, waste their strength in pornography or spend their lives in cyberspace.
D. Todd Christofferson Conference October 2012

(Pornography) is utterly without redeeming social value. We urge our families to protect their children in every way possible. We live in a permissive world, but we must make certain we do not become a part of that permissive world, that degenerate world.
Spencer W. Kimball, God Will Not Be Mocked, Conference October 1974

Permissiveness, immorality, pornography, drugs, the power of peer pressure- all these and more- cause many to be tossed about on a sea of sin and crushed on the jagged reefs of lost opportunities, forfeited blessings, and shattered dreams.
~ Thoma S. Monson, Believe, Obey , and Endure, Conference October 2013

"Most people in trouble end up crying, 'What was I thinking?' Well, whatever they were thinking, they weren’t thinking of Christ. Yet, as members of His Church, we pledge every Sunday of our lives to take upon ourselves His name and promise to 'always remember him.' So let us work a little harder at remembering Him." Elder Jefferey R. Holland, Place No More For the Enemy of My Soul, April 2010 General Conference

Priesthood holders carry with them the antidote to remove the terrible images of pornography and to wash away guilt. The priesthood has the power to unlock the influence of our habits, even to unchain from addiction, however tight the grip. It can heal over the scars of past mistakes.
~ Boyd K. Packer, Cleansing The Inner Vessel, October 2010 Conference

We need to be alert of this kind of bad stuff that is around us we need to be strong avoid it at all cause because theres not need to stain our minds with something thats going to be there forever. in these latters days having this kind of inmorality is normal we need to show the world that we can be clean to come back to heavenly father. we need to protect our families and childrens because we know that satain is giving his last fight and he wants us to be miserable like him.

Atonement

  1. That is the promise of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Atonement: to take anyone who comes, anyone who will join, and put them through an experience so that at the end of their life, they can go through the veil having repented of their sins and having been washed clean through the blood of Christ. ~ Boyd K. Packer, The Atonement, Conference October 2012
  2. The scriptures speak of His arms being open, extended, stretched out, and encircling. They are described as mighty and holy, arms of mercy, arms of safety, arms of love, “lengthened out all the day long… The Lord’s desire that we come unto Him and be wrapped in His arms is often an invitation to repent. “Behold, he sendeth an invitation unto all men, for the arms of mercy are extended towards them, and he saith: Repent, and I will receive you.” ~ Neil L. Anderson, Repent That I May Heal You, Conference October 2009
  3. As one of His latter-day witnesses, I testify that He lives today. He is a resurrected Being. He is our Savior, our Lord, and the very Son of God. I testify that He will come again as our glorified, resurrected Lord. That day is not far distant. To all who accept Him as Savior and Lord, His literal resurrection means that life does not end at death, for He promised: “Because I live, ye shall live also. ~ Ezra Taft Benson, The Meaning of Easter, Conference April 1992
  4. "I am so profoundly grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ, for a testimony of the Atonement of the Savior. I believe in it with all my heart, and I live for it, and I bear witness of it this day. Of all of the events of human history, none other approaches the Atonement of the Savior in its meaning and in its results. God be thanked for the gift of His precious Son, to whom we all owe thanks for His sacrifice in our behalf." --Gordon B. Hinckley, "Inspirational Thoughts", Liahona, Feb 2007, 2–6
  5. "Faith in the Lord is trust in the Lord. We cannot have true faith in the Lord without also having complete trust in the Lord's will and in the Lord's timing. As a result, no matter how strong our faith is, it cannot produce a result contrary to the will of Him in whom we have faith. Remember that when your prayers do not seem to be answered in the way or at the time you desire. The exercise of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is always subject to the order of heaven, to the goodness and will and wisdom and timing of the Lord. When we have that kind of faith and trust in the Lord, we have true security and serenity in our lives." --Dallin H. Oaks, "The Atonement and Faith", Ensign, Apr 2010, 30–34
  6. "We have great helps to give us courage in this life. The greatest is the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Because of what He did, sins can be washed away in the waters of baptism. We can renew that blessing when we partake of the sacrament in faith and with a repentant heart." --Henry B. Eyring, "Moral Courage", Liahona, Mar 2010, 4–7
  7. "Closely related to our own obligation to repent is the generosity of letting others do the same...In this we participate in the very essence of the Atonement of Jesus Christ...We don't want God to remember our sins, so there is something fundamentally wrong in our relentlessly trying to remember others' sins...It is one of those ironies of godhood that in order to find peace, the offended as well as the offender must engage the principle of forgiveness." --Jeffrey R. Holland, "The Peaceable Things of the Kingdom", Ensign, Nov. 1996, 82
  8. "We must never forget that through the Atonement, the Lord Jesus Christ paid a great price for the redemption of each one of us." --Elder M. Russell Ballard, Ensign, Nov. 1998,
  9. The Savior’s gift of immortality comes to all who have ever lived. But His gift of eternal life requires repentance and obedience to specific ordinances and covenants. Essential ordinances of the gospel symbolize the Atonement. Baptism by immersion is symbolic of the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Redeemer. Partaking of the sacrament renews baptismal covenants and also renews our memory of the Savior’s broken flesh and of the blood He shed for us. Ordinances of the temple symbolize our reconciliation with the Lord and seal families together forever. Obedience to the sacred covenants made in temples qualifies us for eternal life—the greatest gift of God to man —the “object and end of our existence -Elder M. Russell Ballard,"The Atonement"October 1996
  10. The Atonement not only benefits the sinner but also benefits those sinned against—that is, the victims. By forgiving “those who trespass against us” (JST, Matt. 6:13) the Atonement brings a measure of peace and comfort to those who have been innocently victimized by the sins of others. The basic source for the healing of the soul is the Atonement of Jesus Christ. -james E Faust " the atonement : Our greatest hope" october 2001

I cannot be more gratiful with the greatest sacrified that he did just for us so we could come back to him, even thought he didnt have to do it he show his love for us and was obedience by showing us the way we need it to follow to come back with him. sometimes we think i had it to be done because it was part of the plan of heavenly father but im sure that they could have find another way but without thinking it twice he give his life to save us and pay for us and theres not better way to pay him that to be obedient to his commandments and prepare our selves for his second coming.

F-A-M-ILY

“You must plan your day as guided by the Spirit of the Lord, earnestly seeking your own welfare and the welfare of your family before other cares blind you to these first responsibilities. As we have been taught by living prophets, ‘No other success in life can compensate for failure in the home’- David O. McKay, in Conference Report, Apr. 1964, 5; quoted from J. E. McCulloch, Home: The Savior of Civilization [1924], 42.”

“The Lord has charged men with the responsibility to provide for their families in such a way that the wife is allowed to fulfill her role as mother in the home. … Sometimes the mother works outside of the home at the encouragement, or even insistence, of her husband … [for the] convenience[s] that the extra income can buy. Not only will the family suffer in such instances, brethren, but your own spiritual growth and progression will be hampered”- President Ezra Taft Benson, Ensign, Nov. 1987, 49.

Being one in a family carries a great responsibility of caring, loving, lifting an strengthening each member of the family so that all can righteously endure to the end in mortality and dwell together throughout eternity. It is not enough just to save ourselves. It is equally important that parents, brothers, and sisters are saved in our families. -Robert D. Hales, The Eternal Family, Conference October 1997

"The Church exists to exalt the family. And the family is the fundamental unit of the Church." -Elder Russell M. Nelson; Ensign, November 2001, page 70.

"We cannot control what others choose to do, and so we cannot force our children to heaven, but we can determine what we will do. And we can decide that we will do all we can to bring down the powers of heaven into that family we want so much to have forever." --Elder Henry B. Eyring; Ensign, February 1998, Page16

"The family is a creation of the Almighty. It represents the most sacred of all relationships. It represents the most serious of all undertakings. It is the fundamental organization of society. "Through the revelations of God to His Prophet came the doctrine and authority under which families are sealed together not only for this life but for all eternity."--Gordon B. Hinckley, "The Great Things Which God Has Revealed," Ensign, May 2005, 82

"With the influences of evil that surround our children, can we even imagine sending them out in the morning without kneeling and humbly asking together for the Lord's protection? Or closing the day without kneeling together and acknowledging our accountability before Him and our thankfulness for His blessings? Brothers and sisters, we need to have family prayer." --Neil L. Andersen, "Prophets and Spiritual Mole Crickets," Ensign, Nov. 1999, 17

"Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey, and share our love with friends and family. One day each of us will run out of tomorrows." --Thomas S. Monson,, "Finding Joy in the Journey", Liahona, Nov 2008, 84–87

"Because love is the great commandment, it ought to be at the center of all and everything we do in our own family, in our Church callings, and in our livelihood. Love is the healing balm that repairs rifts in personal and family relationships. It is the bond that unites families, communities, and nations. Love is the power that initiates friendship, tolerance, civility, and respect. It is the source that overcomes divisiveness and hate. Love is the fire that warms our lives with unparalleled joy and divine hope. Love should be our walk and our talk." --Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "The Love of God", Ensign, Nov 2009, 21–24

"Just as Jesus used a child in His mortal ministry as an example for the people of the pure love they must and could have to be like Him, He has offered us the family as an example of an ideal setting in which we can learn how to love as He loves. That is because the greatest joys and the greatest sorrows we experience are in family relationships." --Henry B. Eyring, "Our Perfect Example", Ensign, Nov 2009, 70–73

Families are the central plan of the Gospel and we are responsible to teach our families and guide them into the right path. from this topic i learned how important are the families to God and he wants us to be with them forever but we have to work hard for this to happen  by been worthy of going to the temple to be sealed with your family forever. families help us learned to love one another and to love the gospel more. i am grateful for having a family that loves me and takes care of me.
