Obedience

"Man unquestionably has impressive powers... But after all our obedience and good works, we cannot be saved from the effects of our sins without the grace extended by the atonement of Jesus Christ... Man cannot earn his own salvation."
--Dallin H. Oaks, "What Think Ye of Christ?", Ensign, November 1988

"Holiness is the strength of the soul. It comes by faith and through obedience to God's laws and ordinances. God then purifies the heart by faith, and the heart becomes purged from that which is profane and unworthy. When holiness is achieved by conforming to God's will, one knows intuitively that which is wrong and that which is right before the Lord. Holiness speaks when there is silence, encouraging that which is good or reproving that which is wrong."
--James E. Faust, "Standing in Holy Places," Ensign, May 2005, 62

"I see a wonderful future in a very uncertain world. If we will cling to our values, if we will build on our inheritance, if we will walk in obedience before the Lord, if we will simply live the gospel we will be blessed in a magnificent and wonderful way. We will be looked upon as a peculiar people who have found the key to a peculiar happiness."
--Gordon B. Hinckley, "Look to the Future", Ensign, Nov. 1997, 67

"Testimony requires the nurturing by the prayer of faith, the hungering for the word of God in the scriptures, and the obedience to the truth we have received. There is danger in neglecting prayer. There
is danger to our testimony in only casual study and reading of the scriptures. They are necessary nutrients for our testimony."
--President Henry B. Eyring, "A Living Testimony", April 2011 Young Women’s Conference

"I too believe that God will always make a way where there is no way. I believe that if we will walk in obedience to the commandments of God, if we will follow the counsel of the priesthood, he will open a way even where there appears to be no way."
--Gordon B. Hinckley, "If Ye Be Willing and Obedient", Ensign, Jul 1995, 2

"When we truly understand what it means to love as Jesus Christ loves us, the confusion clears and our priorities align. Our walk as disciples of Christ becomes more joyful. Our lives take on new meaning. Our relationship with our Heavenly Father becomes more profound. Obedience becomes a joy rather than a burden."-Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "The Love of God", Ensign, Nov 2009, 21–24

Willing obedience provides lasting protection against Satan’s alluring and tantalizing temptations. Jesus is our perfect example of obedience. Learn to do as He did when Satan tempted Him in the wilderness. Even though He was weakened by fasting, His answer was quick and firm: 'Get thee behind me, Satan.'" -Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, Live in Obedience, April 1994 General Conference

A knowledge of truth and the answers to our greatest questions come to us as we are obedient to the commandments of God.- Thomas S. Monson "Obedience brings blessings"  April 2013

"Divine covenants make strong Christians. I urge each one to qualify for and receive all the priesthood ordinances you can and then faithfully keep the promises you have made by covenant. In times of distress, let your covenants be paramount and let your obedience be exact. Then you can ask in faith, nothing wavering, according to your need, and God will answer. He will sustain you as you work and watch. In His own time and way He will stretch forth his hand to you, saying, 'Here am I.'"
-Elder D. Todd Christofferson, "The Power of Covenants", April 2009 General Conference

"There are rules and laws to help ensure our physical safety. Likewise, the Lord has provided guidelines and commandments to help ensure our spiritual safety so that we might successfully navigate this often-treacherous mortal existence and return eventually to our Heavenly Father."
-President Thomas S. Monson, Obedience Brings Blessings, April 2013 General Conference
